With so many excellent ice cream parlours and Eiscafés across the city, choosing the top spots is no easy task. We have our own personal favourites, but ice cream is serious stuff, so we decided to ask our community for their favourites on Instagram. The result is a carefully curated list of the best ice cream shops in Berlin, combining our own top picks with the local favourites recommended by you. After all, giving Berliners a voice is almost as cool as enjoying a scoop on a sunny day.
Alphi’s Eis
Alphi’s Eis in Pankow claims their ice cream is made with love, and that seems to be true! Whether there are fragrant flower pedals or Sicilian almonds sprinkled in or on your scoop, you can taste the love in their handmade organic ice cream. Alphi’s also popped up quite a bit in your suggestions – and for good reason!

Artigiani Eis
Named as one of the top 15 gelatos in the world, we had to put Artigani on this list. Rich, creamy all-natural gelato churned to creamy, delicious perfection. Their two locations are a bit out there, but they’re worth the trip!

Canal
Canal founder Daniela Barriobero Canal is a passionate pastry chef — and that’s reflected tenfold in her ice cream flavours. Expect a bold mix of tastes and textures, with flavours like olive oil and peach topped with roasted hazelnuts.

Chipi Chipi Bombón
We all know Italian gelato and American soft serve, but who’s tried Argentinian ice cream before? Chipi Chipi’s milk-based flavours like dulce de leche and mate (a Berliner’s fantasy) are must-try’s, but honestly so are their sorbets. They taste like pure fruit!

Delabuu
Chill, vegans, we haven’t forgotten about you. Another Friedrichshain Eis institution is Delabuu. Although they have some animal-derived products on their menu, their Thai-style ice cream rolls are made on a vegan base, to which you can add a flavour of your choice (and there’s a solid amount of choices), then finish it off with sauces and toppings. If you’re not vegan, the ice cream rolls are a super fun way to eat your favourite frozen treat!

Duo
Duo is hands down one of the best gelato spots in town. This Berlin staple is so popular they have eight different locations across Berlin. The Sicilian ice cream parlour has an impressive selection of both vegan and non-vegan gelato, plus homemade pastries, coffee and even pistachio cream on offer. You can even get their famous pistachio glaze put on top of your gelato if you’re feeling extra decadent. Their scoops are truly mouthwatering and you can absolutely taste their high quality.

Early Bird
The Italian-style ice cream at Early Bird is one of the best in Berlin and was mentioned quite frequently by our readers. They also have delicious coffee and Italian pastries to compliment your gelato.

Eispiraten
Eispiraten is the perfect place for all those kids (and adults) who dream of escaping to the high seas. This Friedrichshain spot is decorated with skull and crossbones, a glistening booty chest and a creepy pirate hat-wearing mannequin.

Gelato DISCO
Artisanal gelato made with Italian ingredients and waffles are the specialty of this funky Kreuzberg institution, and it’s a mix that goes really well together – we can only recommend trying it yourself!

Green Scoop Vegan
Here’s another one for the vegans out there! We know rolling up to an ice cream parlour and seeing sorbet as the only option can be a bummer if you’re in the mood for something creamy. Luckily, one of the best ice cream spots in Friedrichshain is entirely plant based and offers a wide range classic ice cream flavours. They may not offer the fanciest flavours in town, but the quality is top notch. They sure do get the basics right!

Hokey Pokey
With multiple locations in Prenzlauer Berg, Mitte and Pankow, Hokey Pokey has established itself at the top of Berlin’s quality ice cream scene. This is serious stuff — artisanal and produced with only the finest ingredients. Although a stop at Hokey Pokey will set you back a bit more than your average ice cream and the queue might make you do a double take, it’s certainly all worth it.

Jones Ice Cream
Jones Ice Cream is known for their bold and enticing flavours. We recommend pairing your scoop of grapefruit and Earl Grey with their hugely popular greek yoghurt strawberry jam. Don’t forget to grab one of their freshly baked cookies as well.

Mos Eisley
Mos Eisley brings Tatooine flavours straight to Berlin, and they certainly know what’s up! Their original location is a must-stop on your way to Tempelhof spaceport, and they’ve recently also opened another shop on Weserstr. on the other side of Neukölln.

Peggy Bee
Another one our readers consistently mentioned among their favourites, Peggy Bee serves aperitivo and wine alongside gelato and coffee, making it a prime spot to sample Italian delicacies of all sorts.

SERVE
As the name suggests, these guys really SERVE. Started this spring in 2026, they specialise in New Zealand-style ice cream (we didn’t know that was a thing either), which is soft serve made from real fruits, and it’s absolutely delicious. You can only get it on Saturdays at the Kollowitz market though, so plan accordingly!

Scoopy Doo
Come for the adorable name, stay for the giant servings! This ice cream shop by Halensee might be small, but the flavours are mighty (as are their enormous bubble waffle cones). We recommend their eponymous ScoopyDoo flavour, made from a super-secret fruit mix. Their other varieties change regularly, but there are always plenty of vegan-friendly options.

This gelateria with top-notch ice cream can be found a stone’s throw from Schlesi. It’s hard to say who makes the best gelato in Berlin, but Zagara are certainly a strong contender for the title.
